#4 What exactly do you need from your newspaper partner each week, and how do you build and publish each article or newsletter?

In Lesson #1 We discussed how to choose which local newspaper to approach. In Lesson #2 We learned that as a NSE, you’ll use the newspaper’s weekly articles to build both a Free Newsletter, and Articles which are available to Paid Subscribers only. In Lesson #3 We discussed the benefits that a local newspaper will receive by integrating onto the Substack platform.

You’ve chosen your newspaper partner—now what do you actually need from them?

You need their newspaper content of course, preferably in a manner that’s easy to transfer to Substack. The trick to being able to do this in less than 4 hours each week, is that you must be able to just copy and paste the articles.

I’ve mentioned before, “As a NSE you won’t be required to do any journalism, nor do you need to be a professional editor—if you’re already publishing your own personal Substack newsletter, you already possess the knowledge to be an NSE.”

The Wiregrass Farmer, my newspaper partner, publishes the print version of the paper on Wednesdays. But the newspaper is actually done and sent to the printer on Monday. So the editor of the newspaper sends me the newspaper’s content on Monday as well!
